Garrett R FitzGerald (PhD candidate at the University of Notre Dame)

Why should we still care about nuclear weapons? Despite a dominant narrative that suggests nuclear winter or a post-Cold War nuclear exchange between the U.S. and Russia is unlikely, Garrett FitzGerald of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) claims even a small detonation is worrisome for global health and the environment. FitzGerald details his organization (IPPNW), the environmental effects of nuclear weapons, and the possibilities for global health if even a relatively small nuclear weapon exchange took place between Pakistan and India.
