Project Space and UAB BLOOM Studio Breakout Activities

The Department of Art and Art History will conduct lab experiments focusing on the intersection of language and visual symbols in the Project space. Most activities can be completed within 30 minutes depending on demand.

  • 10-4 Wednesday, October 25: Come investigate the ‘Language of Peace’ with social justice themes and the visual, thematic, and formal construction of language and symbols.

  • 10-4 Thursday October 26: Art activities around the ‘Language of Hope’ using vocabulary mentored by the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center.

  • 12-3 Friday October 27: Come create a broadside poster print.

  • 4-6 Friday October 27: Exhibition opening at UAB’s Project Space, showcasing student investigations of social justice themes. There will also be a reading by Alabama poet Ashley M. Jones.

All activities are free and open to the public in partnership with the Alabama School of Fine Arts, The UAB University Honors Program, and The Birmingham Holocaust Education Center.
