[Hosted as part of the 12th International Conference on Conflict Resolution Education, Bridging the Divide in Polarized Societies, Cleveland, Ohio, USA,Tuesday – Saturday, May 22 – 26, 2018]

Are you witnessing an increase in divisiveness in your community? Do you see the need for us to talk across our divides? Do you want to be able to help your community have the difficult conversations it needs to have to move forward together? This workshop will help you build skills to facilitate tough conversations, whether in your daily life or in formal dialogues. This workshop is intended to be an introductory workshop for those new to facilitation or to our approach. In this workshop you will learn skills to facilitate these conversations by:

· Learning how to design and structure conversations for engagement that encourages curiosity, community and connection across differences

· Achieving clarity of purpose and expectations 

· Utilizing agreements, structure, preparation and inquiry

· Practicing competence and confidence in facilitating through challenging moments

Presenters: Tierra Marshall, Associate, Essential Partners and co-facilitator, TBD

 

Tierra L Marshall holds a B.S. in Psychology and African American Studies and an M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Western Michigan University. She is currently pursuing an M.Div. from Western Theological Seminary. In addition to being an Associate with Essential Partners, Tierra currently serves as the Director of Education, Training, and Assessment at Providence College where she leads projects related to dialogue, training and education, and exploring the nexus of faith and justice.
