Please note that Selkirk College has three campuses in Nelson. The primary location for the PJSA conference is our 10th St. Campus.

Arriving by Air from the US: If you are travelling from the United States, your most cost-effective and time-saving option may be to fly into the Spokane International airport in Spokane, WA. The trip to Nelson, BC is approximately, 3.5 hours by car from Spokane. 

Car Rental: Cars may be rented at the Spokane International airport. It is HIGHLY recommended that you ask for a GPS for your rental vehicle as the trip to Nelson is remote.

SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE SPOKANE AND CASTLEGAR AIRPORTS TO NELSON, BC

SPOKANE AIRPORT/NELSON SERVICE: We will be offering a limited round-trip shuttle service from the Spokane International Airport to Nelson, BC on the following dates and times:

PICK UP AT SPOKANE AIRPORT:

  • Option 1: Sept 21, Wed at 2 pm
    • Please note Option 2 HAS BEEN CANCELED. PLEASE CHOOSE OPTIONS 1 OR 3
  • Option 3: Sept 22, Thur at 2 pm

DEPARTURE FROM NELSON, BC TO THE SPOKANE AIRPORT:

  • Option 1: Sept 25, Sun at 6 am
  • Option 2: Sept 25, Sun at 8 am

**Important Info Re: Departures: Please note that the travel time between Nelson, BC and the Spokane Airport is approximately 3.5 hours. Therefore, please make sure that you allot at least 4.5-5 hours between your Nelson departure and your actual flight departure.  EXCEPTION: For the Sept 25, 6 am departure from Nelson, please note that the journey will take closer to 4 hours due to the early morning departure and need to re-route to the 24-hour, Frontier/Paterson border crossing near Rossland, BC. Therefore, please make sure that you allot at least 5-5.5 hours between your Nelson departure and your actual flight departure if you are leaving Nelson at 6 am on Sept. 25.

KOOTENAY REGIONAL AIRPORT (CASTLEGAR)/NELSON SERVICE: The Kootenay Shuttle operates regularly between the West Kootenay Regional airport and several Nelson hotels. For more information please go to: https://www.kootenayshuttle.com/castlegar/(link is external).

Arriving by Air from Canada: The West Kootenay Regional Airport located in Castlegar, BC is approximately 30 minutes from Nelson.

Directions from the W. Kootenay Regional airport: Enjoy a scenic, 30-minute drive along Hwy BC-3A that runs between Castlegar and Nelson. Click Here For a Map

Arriving by car from major Canadian cities: Nelson, BC is located approximately 7-hours by car from Calgary, Alberta to the east, and 8-hours by car from Vancouver, BCto the west.

Public Transit: The City of Nelson has several bus routes. The Route 2 bus: “Fairview” follows the route from downtown Nelson to Selkirk College, 10th St. campus. For details go to http://bctransit.com/west-kootenay/(link is external)

Shuttle service from downtown Nelson and hotels to PJSA conference: Regular to semi-regular shuttle service will be provided from downtown Nelson and the Prestige Lakeside Resort to the conference. All downtown hotels are just a few blocks apart so a central pick-up and drop off location will be chosen for delegates staying in the downtown core.
