'9/11 in the Academic Community'
Adnan Zuberi (Independent)
A winner of the University of Toronto Film Festival, “9/11 in the Academic Community” is a unique documentary that presents the experiences and observations of several notable professors and a former university president regarding academia’s treatment of critical perspectives on 9/11. The film explores differences between academic literature and government reports on describing Al-Qaeda, how students respond to critical perspectives of 9/11 in the classroom, the epistemological implications of basing the foundations of the official 9/11 narrative on torture testimony, and why several academics often identify themselves with the Bush Administration’s narrative despite being harsh critics of the administration. Through a powerful reflection on intellectual courage and the purpose of academia, the film aims at changing intellectual discourse on 9/11 and the War on Terror. 1 Hour, 15 Min
